Roller skating really is the fountain of youth.
Making the transition from flat to banked track and being able to use the track to my advantage.
Amor Apache (Tough Love): Started playing flat track derby out in the west Texas town of El Paso. She skated on the All-Star team with El Paso Roller Derby (501c non profit) under the WFTDA rules for three years.
Highlights of her time with EPRD would include: 2013- Member of the Board and President. 2012 & 2013-Public Relations & Community Outreach Coordinator. While in El Paso, she felt honored to have coached the Black Dahlias and the Chulas from Juarez Mexico Roller Derby. Crossing the border to train regularly eventually brought both leagues closer together, creating a strong sisterhood. Skaters and referees from El Paso and Juarez now skate and volunteer together on both sides of the border.
Having moved to San Diego, she could not pass up the opportunity to try her wheels out on the tilted track. “ I feel privileged to be able to skate with such a great group of women.” “There is so much talent here, the ability to skate and know the rules on both tracks is challenging.”
