Longview- deep in the heart of Northeast Texas
Grew up skating, and a very short stint playing t-ball as a kid (I was more concerned with picking flowers in the outfield)
“I always tell the girls to never take it seriously. If you never take it seriously, you never get hurt. If you never get hurt, you always have fun. And if you ever get lonely, you just go to the record store and visit your friends.”
All the women who come into the Dollhouse, no matter how terrified they are, and give it a shot and discover their inner badass. And all the Juniors- I wanna be like them when I grow up. Those girls are FIERCE- and WAY cooler than I was at their age.
Being a brick wall. And skating backwards.
Cutting the track. Not getting back blocks. Doing ALL OF THE THINGS at one time. And finding a balance in life without burning myself out.
I found love on 8 wheels at the ripe old age of 3 years old. Every other weekend from 4-14, I could be found at the local rink trying to keep up with my two older (and way cooler) boy cousins. After returning from an 8 month deployment, I hit up Del Mar on a whim after Googling things to do, and discovered the Derby Dolls. After 10 mins of the game, I asked how I could be like those amazing athletes, promptly spent well earned deployment money on my first pair of REAL skates, and Loni Lethal was born!! Skating comes naturally, derby- and being athletic in general- does not. When work doesn’t keep me away, I skate as much as I can and strive to become like all of the awesome women I’ve had the privilege to skate with and be trained by.
